Thumbs Up to Relief

Many people go to a chiropractor because they are in pain, and are seeking relief as quickly as possible.  In this first phase of care, the main goal is to reduce your symptoms and to help you get back into your normal life, pain-free. Depending upon the severity of a pateient's condition, this sometimes requires daily visits or two to three visits per week for period that may range from 4 weeks to 3 months.

People tend to live under the assumption that if they don't feel any pain there is nothing wrong with them, or that they may safely stop care once pain is relieved. Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of one's health. In fact, pain and other obvious symptoms that generally send a person to a health care specialist frequently only appear after a disease or other condition has become advanced.

For example, consider a cavity in your tooth. Does it hurt when it first develops or only after it has become serious? How about heart disease? Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear.

When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear.  You may rest assured that our doctors understand the hinderance on daily life that pain causes, so that when you come into the office seeking relief, your comfort will be our top priority. It is important to keep in mind, however, that much of the underlying condition remains. Treatment will more than likely need to be continued in order to ensure that the underlying condition is corrected, and that future health problems may be prevented.
